Great job Michele. You got it goin' girl. The diversity and level of talent was somethin' else. I'll be back next year. Just let me know how I can help! Look for a follow-up story at www.MyrtleBeachAlternatives.com in the Nov.25, 2007 issue. I don't think we have room in the Nov. 11 edition.

Hi LADIES!

I was truly happy to find this website and I would have loved to come to the festival,
but now it is too late. I Live in Stockholm, Sweden. Maybe next time?
My music is jazz/blues/soul influenced; I sing,
play the keyboards, compose and write the lyrics (in English).... Well you know-I do it all. But everywhere I go, there are men men men men.....So hard to find female musicians for my shows..And I always wonder: Where are all those talented and beautiful blues women?

I so wish I could have joined you and helped you with the festival.
All the best to you all from:

Lady Michelle

I just got out of rehearsal for the show on Nov.3rd,and the guys are sooooo excited over the event. I have never had so much cooperation and enthusiasm from a group of men before. They have always treated other gigs as just another job kind-of-an attitude. I think it is not me but the Idea of being in the presence of gifted females. They speak highly, with respect for the talent of all the performing artist. This looks like the making of one of the best gigs in a long time for me. I'm looking forward to this and what it stands for. Anyways, I stopped in to see if the performing times have been set?

I guess that anything you build takes time if you want it to stand for a time. I think that it would be beneficial to advertise some of the local eateries since they will benefit for a donation or sponsorship since nothing in this world is free. You are having your festival during the downside of tourism and they should be more than happy. Hit them now while tourist season is peaking.
You can get more info ideas for your site by visiting some of the larger festival's site's such as the Capital Jazz Fest and the Pocono's Blues fest. They are the largest that I have attended on the east coast and many years of experience in promoting festivals. And That's free.
I was really moved by your mission statement. It was loud and clear as to your purpose and intent. I cried when I read a biography of Big Momma Thorton. She died in poverty in a convalescent hospital in Los Angeles alone; while Elvis wont die and his estate making millions off the recording Hound Dog. I'm not sure if she was the writer but my point is that I'm hoping your organization could assist women in the business aspect to ensure that such rapings never take place at the rate of our blues mothers. I guess I'm hoping that this organization become a haven for women in blues. There is a lot of potential here.
